Speedcore, breakcore, industrial – you name it, however deviant, Crack Beats operator Bas Welling has been doing it. For Speed of Sound he has recorded his tribute to the old school sound, using the Korg DS 10 software for Nintendo DS only – and guess what, the result sounds fresh and topical. There’s a massive load of acidic analogue sounds, rushing (straight) beats and the occasional sample, all five tracks emanating a densely oppressive atmosphere, proclaiming a firm mastery of the experimental side of the genre - the realm of the anti-life.
